El Paso, TX (KDBC) — Federal spending cuts are hitting 57,000 children who would have started preschool this fall.
The administration for children and families reports that more than 51,000 fewer children will begin Head Start Preschool programs and just under 6,000 fewer toddlers will enter early Head Start programs due to sequester cuts.
Officials with Region 19 Head Start in El Paso say they are not feeling that hit.
They are still recruiting more children and have full funding for this school year.
