UPDATE: Man arrested for DWI following San Eli wreck that knocked out power

About 2,800 homes were without power in San Elizario after an alleged drunk driver crashed into a power pole along the 400 block of Mayapan shortly after 1:00 a.m.

El Paso County Sheriff's officials tell us that 21-year-old Roberto Salgado Jr. was arrested on the scene after officers determined he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Local authorities told us the Salgado Jr. crashed his Silver Ford F-150 into a power pole, cutting in half, then crashing into the front of a home. Salgado Jr. was the only person in the truck at the time of the crash.

El Paso Electric restored power two hours after the initial crash.
