El Paso, TX (KTSM) — If you have a chance to look at the Rio Grande, you'll notice it is bone dry but soon that will change.
Officials with the El Paso County Water Improvement District said this year they will release irrigation water from the Caballo Dam at the end of May.
There's good news for farmers in Southern New Mexico and here in the El Paso area. They said this year they should have a better irrigation season because there's enough water to help farmers into the month of September.
The released is set for May 25th and usually takes about seven days for the irrigation water to make its way from Caballo Lake to El Paso.
