Water levels along the Rio Grande River at Laredo are finally beginning to recede after Friday's heavy rains.

Levels at both Columbia bridge and downtown still remain at flood stage, but the water is finally going down at Columbia.

At its peak, the Rio Grande hit a high of 31.4 Columbia and 21.4 ft. downtown.

The level at Columbia was 15 feet above flood stage and the second-highest crest on record at that location.

As of Monday morning levels at Columbia have dropped below flood stage to 14 feet, but remain slightly above flood stage at the downtown Laredo location.

River levels are expected to return to normal by Tuesday.
