EL PASO (KDBC) — Summer is just around the corner and several local organizations are doing their part to make sure young swimmers are safe.
The American Red Cross teamed up with the El Paso Fire Department and the Drowning Prevention Coalition to teach free CPR classes on Saturday.
The training was held at fire stations across town and was targeted at people who have swimming pools outside their homes.
"It's important to learn CPR because you never know when you're going to be in a situation. Whether it's a stranger or a family member that you might have to end up saving, and there's definitely a possibility that you can save someone's life by doing CPR," said Red Cross volunteer Vanessa Martinez.
