The Red Cross of El Paso will be handing out items on Sunday to help families cleaning up from this week's heavy rains and flooding.

It will give out shovels, mops, brooms and gloves to families at Socorro High School from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Monday until the shelter closes at 10 a.m.

The Red Cross said after floods, you should return home only when officials have declared the area safe.

Before entering your home, they say look outside for loose power lines, damaged gas lines, foundation cracks or other damage. It also said approach entrances carefully because parts of your home may be collapsed or damaged.
