Record heat bottoms out thermometer

CNN iReporter David Bolster shared a photo of a thermometer in Lake Havasu, Arizona that topped out the temperature gauge at 120 degrees.

The National Weather Service said the heat wave in the Southwest made June the hottest month on record for Las Vegas, Death Valley and Needles, California.

At 127 degrees, the temperature on Sunday broke DeathValley's record for the day by two degrees.

Forecasters expect the heat wave to continue.  Excessive heat warning continue through 11 p.m. on Independence Day.
