Mexican human rights protestors gathered outside of the Mexican Consulate in Downtown El Paso Friday to honor the memory of missing loved ones.

The event commemorated International Day of the Disappeared.  People shared stories about loved ones who disappeared or were kidnapped in an effort to pressure the Mexican government to continue the search for them.

"We're here because we want to show the Mexican government that if they've forgotten, we haven't. We still have the pain inside of us, we live with that day and day," said Daniel Vega-Hernandez.

Hernandez's aunt has been missing for two years, and family members believe she was kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel.

"We remember her. We're here to remind them that there's still somebody out there missing and it's their job to look for them."
