UPDATE: Power restored to Northeast El Paso customers

UPDATE: El Paso Electric Crews now say that they were able to restore power to the affected residents at approximately 11:23 a.m. The affected area was around Gschwind Ave and Yvette Ave near Rushing and Woodrow Bean. The number of affected customers was revised by Electric officials down to 1,616.

No word on what caused the initial outage.

EARLIER:

El Paso Electric has dispatched crews to northeast El Paso after reports of a major power outage. The outage was reported at 10:47 a.m.

At the current time, approximately 4,471 customers are affected. We are working to get more information on the exact cross streets and cause of the outage. We will update as more information becomes available.
