UPDATE: LocalFour News has learned the name of the Fort Bliss soldier who drowned at Elephant Butte Lake Saturday. He is identified as 21-year-old Rob Vande-Zande of Wisconsin.

As we first reported Saturday, the New Mexico State Police dive team was called out after fellow soldiers reported that they were swimming and Vande-Zande never came back up to the surface.
Divers found his body at two this morning submerged in about 8 ft. of water near the Marina Del Sur. Alcohol is not suspected in this apparent drowning.

Rob Vande-Zande was a bas guitar player for a band called Trafficking Sound here in El Paso Texas. He was a great person. He had a big heart for anyone he came across. Rest in Peace my friend.
