The El Paso Chihuahuas have named Pat Murphy as their first Team Manager Tuesday morning.

Murphy, a Syracuse native, was the former head baseball coach at Arizona State University and the University of Notre Dame.

Murphy led the Tucson Padres to a 77-67 record last season, good for fifth best in the 16-team Pacific Coast League.

In February, 2010, Murphy was hired by the San Diego Padres as Special Assistant to Baseball Operations. He worked with the Padres' Northwest League affiliate, the Eugene Emeralds as their manager from 2011-2012.
