El Paso, TX (KDBC) — The City of El Paso International Bridges Department is teaming up with Park Genius and Duncan Solutions to offer a mobile app that gives motorists an easy way to pay for parking. The Park El Paso mobile app will launch this fall.
“We’re very excited about working together with Park Genius and Duncan Solutions. The Park El Paso mobile app is going to be a great tool not only for our motorists, but for the prosperity of our local businesses and economy as a whole,” said El Paso Director of International Bridges Paul Stresow.
The mobile application developed by Tucson-based Park Genius will allow motorists to use their smartphones to pay for and remotely add time to Duncan Liberty and Eagle parking meters.
The application will be free to download in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Users will be able to pay for parking electronically with a credit or debit card. Participating meters will be marked with the Park El Paso label along with information on how to use the app. Park El Paso will send a message reminder five minutes before the parking session is about to expire, allowing the user to add more time from any location.
Along with the benefits of purchasing additional time remotely for users, local businesses will have the opportunity to advertise to subscribers for specific events and promotions through the Park El Paso app. Merchants will also be able to offer their customers validation for parking by depositing coupon codes into their Park El Paso wallet account.
The technology will initially be available in limited locations downtown before eventually being released to all of El Paso’s nearly 2,000 parking meters. “Coming Soon” decals have been placed on meters involved with the preliminary rollout. Initial locations will include all meters between Mills and Missouri and from Campbell to Mesa.
