Monday, April 1, 2013 - 1:31pm

DOÑA ANA COUNTY — An Organ man was arrested over the weekend, charged with the false imprisonment and battery of his live-in girlfriend, Sheriff's investigators said.

Just before 5 a.m. on March 30, Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 15000 block of Furnace Street in Organ after a woman said her boyfriend, 27-year-old William Twichell, forcibly held her down when the woman announced she was leaving him. When the woman tried to escape, her knee and hip reportedly became dislocated. According to a report, Twichell refused to call for medical attention.

The victim was finally able to escape, and dragged herself across the street to her mother’s house. She was later transported to a Las Cruces-area hospital.

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s investigators responded to the hospital to interview the victim, and subsequently arrested Twichell, who also had five outstanding warrants when he was taken into custody.

Twichell is charged with aggravated battery against a household member and false imprisonment. He’s being held at the Doña Ana County Detention Center on a $5,000 surety bond.
