(CNN) -- At least four people were injured Tuesday in a hospital shooting in Reno, Nevada, and the gunman was contained, authorities said.

The shooter was downed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, said Sharon Spangler, spokeswoman for Reno Police. The gunfire occurred Tuesday afternoon at the Renown Medical Center, according to Dawn Damon of the city's communications center.

The shooter went to the neurology office of Nevada Advanced Medicine on the third floor and opened fire, Spangler said. She described the information as very preliminary.
