Officer Resigns After Accusations of Misconduct

EL PASO — Ricardo Huante, who was relieved of duty in February, resigns. The results of internal investigation into alleged off-duty misconduct against Ricardo Huante were presented to a Discipline Review Board last Thursday.

Prior to a final disposition from the Chief of Police, in accordance with Civil Service rules, Huante elected to voluntarily resign from the El Paso Police Department effective Tuesday.

FBI Search Warrant Executed In Officer's Home

EL PASO — The east side home of an off-duty police officer was the subject of a healthcare fraud investigation by the FBI as EPPD detectives assisted in the execution of a search warrant. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), along with other federal agencies, are also involved in the investigation.

As a result of the on-going criminal investigation by federal law enforcement, Chief of Police Greg Allen relieved 14-year veteran officer Ricardo Huante of duty and placed him on administrative leave.
