U.S. President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, spoke Friday on the margins of a lunch held for leaders as part of D-Day commemorations in France, Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes said.

It was an informal conversation, not a formal bilateral meeting, Rhodes told reporters, adding that it lasted for 10 to 15 minutes.
