LAS CRUCES, N.M. — A group of former and current nursing students have filed a class action lawsuit against Dona Ana Community College for the loss of accreditation.
The students are suing for damages that resulted in the loss of potential jobs and career delays when the program lost accreditation during the summer of last year.
The lawsuit states the college never informed students the program had received a "warning" status due to the lack of faculty with Master's degrees.
The lawsuit says the college ignored repeated warnings from the accreditation commission that began in 2002 and continued to hire faculty without the proper degrees.
The class action lawsuit says there's about a hundred people who were hurt financially when the program failed to maintain accreditation.
