North Korea says it is cutting off a key military hotline with South Korea.
The hotline allows South Koreans to cross the border and work at a jointly-run industrial complex.
The North linked the move to annual joint military exercises by South Korea and the United States.
Tougher sanctions approved by the United Nations security council have also fueled its anger.
North Korea had already shut down red cross hotlines with the South.
