DEMING, NM – More than 60 pounds of marijuana was discovered inside metal compartments hidden in the tires of a pick-up truck this weekend.
A state police officer arrested the truck's driver, 46-year-old Guillermo Ornelas, after pulling him over on State Road 26 east of Deming.
Investigators say the metal compartments concealing the marijuana were perfectly balanced and secured to the interior of the truck's rims.
Ornelas, from Columbus, NM, is charged with felony possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
