Bernardo, NM (KDBC) — New Mexico State Police continue to investigate Wednesday's fatal accident.
Police say, at approximately 3:37 pm, officers responded to the scene of a two vehicle crash on Interstate 25 near mile marker 167, south of Bernardo, NM.
The crash involved two vehicles, a green Toyota Camry and the second was a white Chevy truck, according to police.
Police say, it appeared as both vehicles were traveling northbound on I25 in the right hand lane when the white Chevy rear-ended the green Camry.
Due to the impact, a rear passenger in the Camry, Birthe Rasmussen Moehring, of Berlin, Germany was killed.
The other three passengers did not have serious injuries.
The driver of the white Chevy truck was identified as 37-year old, Keith Bailey Lemitar, NM.
Bailey was booked into the Socorro County Detention Center and charged with and charged him with: Homicide by Vehicle (3rd degree felony); Leaving the Scene of an Accident (4th degree felony); and Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Drugs (5th offense).
