NM Ballots Present 5 Consitutional Amendments

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The ballots in New Mexico will include five constitutional amendments and general obligation bonds worth tens of millions.

Reforming the Public Regulation Commission is among three of the amendments, which would allow oversight of the commision, known for it's consistent scandals.

The PRC is in charge of regulating utilities, insurance companies, transportation companies and transmission and pipeline companies.

The remaining amendments involve the addition of members to the state Judicial Standards Commission and the creation of an independent public defender's office.

The tens of millions from the general obligation bonds would pay for education projects, senion citizen center improvements and library acquisitions.
