Nine Vehicles Involved In Wreck

Saturday, August 18, 2012 - 19:48

A car wreck involving nine vehicles sends one person to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police said several vehicles were driving on I-10 and Hawkins when one car changed lanes and hit another one causing a chain reaction wreck involving seven vehicles. It happened just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Just after the crash, a 22-year-old passenger got out of a van and seconds later, another car hit the van causing the van to hit the man.

He was taken to University Medical Center.

"one of the first things is if you can move your vehicle off of the side of the roadway that is probably the best thing to do to get out of the flow of traffic," said Darrel Petry with the El Paso Police Department.

Investigators believe alcohol, speed, and wet roadways, are contributing factors in this wreck.

The freeway was closed until noon Saturday.

This would be a tremendous help to cover the extensive medical and burial needs of this unexpected tragedy.
Our deepest condolence

This death has sadden us deeply her at Marian Mexico, Inc., where Eduardo's mother works. Three years ago, almost to the date his 7 year old sister, Laisha Quinonez drowned at a state park in Las Cruces while on a family picnic. The loss this family has endured has to be devastating both emotionally and financially. Our wish is that every El Pasoan would find it in their heat to give one dollar to the fund set up at First Light FCU.
