EL PASO — El Paso County’s Colonia Self Help Center Program, through a grant from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, will soon provide nine colonia families with brand new homes through a home construction project, according to the Office of Commissioner Precinct #3, Tania Chozet.

This project was developed in furtherance of the County’s mission to eliminate unsafe and substandard housing in the colonias. The families chosen have demonstrated a strong desire to improve the well-being of their families and their communities.

On Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 6:00pm, the county will host a ceremony to celebrate the completion of the first phase of this project. On that day, three families will receive the keys to their new three bedroom, 1,100 square foot homes. The ceremony will be hosted at the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Griego, 848 Cascada in the Agua Dulce Colonia, east of Horizon City, and is open to the public.
