Spanish media are reporting that the National Security Agency tracked about 60-million phone calls in that country, in just one month. The claims are based on classified documents leaked by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden. The U.S.Ambassador to Spain, James Costos, met with Spain's government officials Monday.
Afterwards Costos released a statement saying the U.S.government recognizes concerns over U.S. intelligence gathering programs and that President Obama has ordered a review of the programs.
The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday that the White House learned over the summer the NSA had tapped the phones of world leaders and ordered an end to some of the eavesdropping.
