El Paso will soon become a more sustainable city.

The city was chosen for a year long program sponsored by The Urban Sustainability Accelerator (USA).

Based at Portland State University, the USA helps move sustainability projects from concepts, a plan policy or an action item, to reality.

Projects in El Paso include expanding the iCarpool program, integrating bike lanes and walkable streets into our downtown redevelopment plan.

It also includes launching a successful bike share program, testing the feasibility of a car-share program, and incorporating sustainability principles into our redevelopment and historic preservation plan.

El Paso was one of seven cities chosen for the program.
