SANTA FE, NM — New Mexico's amber alert system is being expanded. Right now it's very difficult for the system to be activated if police believe the child was taken by a relative. Governor Susana Martinez has signed a new bill into law that will change that. Now the system can be activated even if authorities believe the child was taken by a parent or other family member. The law takes effect June 14th.
