New Fire Station to Emphasize Improved Sustainability

EL PASO — Construction for Fire Station #37 was scheduled for Aug. 20 at the intersection of Tierra Aurora Drive and R.C. Poe Road.

Officials anticipated an eight-month period of construction for an 8,782 square foot fire station with various improvements.

Officials said the design pursued Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification, indicating that the design places an emphasis on achieving improved sustainability.

Additional, the design plan incorporated smart growth design principles to promote greater walkability and neighborhood character by adding appealing facades and a tower element to define the building as a civic place.
