New Emergency Response Truck

EL PASO- A special emergency response vehicle was used for the first time during the HAZMAT response early Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at the Santa Teresa Industrial Park and the region's first AM-BUS was used during. It's an ambulance bus and it was designed for incidents just like this one.
This mpv, or Multiple Patient Vehicle is the first of its kind in El Paso and it cost the state of Texas half a million dollars. If needed, it can provide the high level care required for the most critical patients. It will serve the Border region uniquely in that it also goes into New Mexico. The service area will be 220 miles out of El Paso. It will cover half of southern New Mexico and a large portion of west Texas. The nearest bus like it is in Lubbock.

This mpv can transport up to 30 people at a time and 20 of those can be in serious condition. The chemical spill on Tuesday, nearly 80 people were given a ride in this new AM-BUS.
