Neighbors Complain of Gas Odor

Tuesday, August 21, 2012 - 09:40

EL PASO - Early this morning, several of residents in Northeast El Paso were woken up by the smell of gas and quickly called 911 in fear of their safety.

It's been a busy morning for firefighters they've been responding to several calls regarding the smell of gas.
While neighbors thought there was a gas leak fire dispatchers say the smell was actually coming from Western Refinery.

The refinery was cleaning out their tank trunks which released the smell of petroleum.
That smell is very similar to the smell of gas and confused neighbors leading them to think there was a gas leak in the area.
The odor traveled to several areas of Northeast El Paso and while firefighters responded to many calls they didn't find any gas leaks in the area.

At this point, no one shown symptoms of being poisoned by a gas leak.
We'll keep you updated if there are any changes.
