El Paso - - The murder trial of Michael Romero ended abruptly when one of the jurors became ill.
The judge adjourned and ordered trial to resume tomorrow.
Today, Romero's mother took the stand and insisted on his innocence.
She said, "My son is not a gangster."
Romero is charged in the 2008 beating death of Valentin Ray Rodriguez at a party in Northeast El Paso.
Prosecutors rested their case with the defense expected to call several witnesses tomorrow.
One other defendant in the case is already serving a 70 year prison term for Rodriguez' murder.
