Murder Suspect Arrested In Albuquerque

Members of the United States Marshals Service South West Investigative Fugitive Team task force arrested Donavin N. Wilson, 21, of Gonado, NM. Deputies arrested Wilson in Window Rock on the Navajo Nation. Wilson was arrested on Murder charges out of Bernalillo County, stemming from a warrant dated July 27, 2012.

Police reports state on July 6, 2012, Nicholas Platero and Wilson drove from Window Rock, AZ, to Albuquerque, NM, to attend the Mayhem concert. On July 7, 2012, in the early morning hours, Nicholas Platero was found dead in the parking lot of the Super 8 Motel at Coors and Iliff on the Westside of Albuquerque. Albuquerque Fire Department and responding rescue personnel were able to administer CPR and bring Platero back to life. Platero survived one day in the hospital and passed away on July 8, 2012.

On July 25, 2012, Albuquerque Police developed leads that Donavin Wilson had involvement in Platero’s suspicious death. Police reports indicate when detectives contacted Wilson he hung the phone up on detectives and refused to cooperate with the investigation. APD developed information that Wilson was back on the Navajo Nation. On July 27, 2012, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Wilson for the murder of Platero. US Marshals were contacted and assisted in locating Wilson. Deputy Marshals filed extradition paperwork with the Navajo Nation Criminal Prosecutor’s Office and were granted approval to arrest and extradite Wilson from the Navajo Nation. On Monday, Deputy Marshals assisted by Navajo Narcotics Detectives were able to locate and arrested Wilson. Wilson was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Apache County, AZ, Detention Center, where he awaits extradition back to Albuquerque, NM.
