That's from the folks at Budget Travel, who looked at some of the most common mistakes that siphon your gas.

Another is too much luggage in and on the vehicle.

Luggage on top of a vehicle can cause wind resistance, decreasing fuel economy by two percent.

And an extra hundred pounds in the trunk reduces fuel economy by one to two percent or four to eight cents a gallon.
