Military's largest solar array coming to Fort Bliss

Tuesday, April 2, 2013 - 11:50pm

Fort Bliss will soon be home to the largest solar project in American military history. This week the United States Army Corps of Engineers authorized El Paso Electric to start work on a 20 megawatt solar farm on post. The power will help reduce Fort Bliss' carbon footprint and will help the post reach its goal of becoming net zero. That means the installation will create all the energy it uses. We're expected to learn more details at a special briefing on Friday.
