Mexico City (CNN) — One of Mexico's President Peña Nieto's promises during his campaign was to create a new national police force.
On Friday, he unveiled a 5,000 member force. They will be stationed in mostly rural areas.
For decades, Mexico's national police has been plagued with corruption.
The new force is expected to confront drug traffickers and win the confidence of the people.
