SAN ANTONIO - Just after 2:00 this afternoon the prosecution rested in the David Marmolejo murder trial. The state did so without calling star witness Mariah Wilson to the stand.
In the first trial Wilson, Marmolejo's step-sister-turned-lover, gave graphic details on how David told her he killed Gloria Marmolejo. Wilson also testified she helped clean up the scene and was with David when he dumped Gloria's body in the desert.
There is still a chance the prosecution could call Mariah to the stand after the defense rests.
The defense is expected to begin their portion of the testimony Monday morning at 9:30.
Marmolejo is accused of killing his mother Gloria and dumping her body in the Santa Teresa desert.
Marmolejo's first trial in El Paso ended in a hung jury.
All but one juror favored acquittal.
