Albuquerque, NM (KDBC) — A New Mexico mans remains hospitalized in critical condition Thursday night after a hot air balloon ride gone wrong in Albuquerque. It happened Wednesday during the annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Passenger Daniel Lovato and pilot Mark Kilgore crashed into power lines, which set the balloon on fire. They plummeted 40 feet to the ground. The 66 year-old Lovato suffered burns to more than half his body and had to have his right arm amputated. He's still in critical condition. The 59 year-old Kilgore escaped with less severe burns. Strong winds grounded balloons during the event Thursday.
