Man Identified in Officer Confrontation

EL PASO, TX — Police have identified the man who confronted an officer with a knife Sunday morning. As we reported, the officer who responded to a disturbance call, asked 32-year-old Jorge Ivan Vasquez-Medrano multiple times to drop the knife, but he refused. Eventually the officer ended up shooting at him. Vasquez Medrano remains in stable condition and upon his release from the hospital, will be booked into the El Paso County Jail. The officer remains on administrative duty.
