A 41-year-old El Paso man is facing intoxicated assault charges after investigators say he crashed his pickup truck, head-on, into a car with four women.

The crash happened around 10:40 p.m. Friday night on the 1200 block of Darrington Rd. near Horizon City.

Vicente Ugalde, 41,  is facing two counts of intoxicated assault. El Paso Sheriff's deputies say he was driving south on Darrington Rd. when he moved into the northbound lane and tried to pass another vehicle.

That's when they say he hit a honda, head-on. The occupants of that car were all women.

The honda's driver, 33-year-old Lidia Garcia, sustained serious bodily injuries. The passenger Stephanie Herrera, 11, also suffered serious head and face injuries. Jennifer Marquez, 17, and Kimberly Herrera, 14 both sustained minor injuries.

At last check, Ugalde -- who broke his leg in the crash -- was still in the El Paso County Jail under bonds totaling $40,000.

Ugalde's criminal record shows he's served time before for speeding and driving without a license.

Records also show he had a warrant issued for assault.
