Police identify man killed in Northeast El Paso rollover

UPDATE:

El Paso police identified the man killed in Friday's early morning rollover at the intersection of Rushing and Fairbanks as Aaron Michael Escamilla, 22.

Police said Escamilla died at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. Invesigators believe that speed was a factor in the crash. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor.

ORIGINAL STORY:

One man died in an early morning rollover in Northeast El Paso. The crash happened at approximately 4:15 a.m. on Fairbanks Dr. and Rushing Rd.

According to El Paso Police, the driver of a green Chevrolet Blazer SUV was traveling east on Fairbanks near Girl Scout Way when, for an unknown reason, he crossed the median into the westbound lanes, taking out a small palm tree.

The SUV continued traveling through the parking lot of a nearby shopping center and then hit a power pole and electrical box knocking out power to the traffic lights in the intersection.

Police said the driver died on the scene. The victim has not been identified.

Investigators blocked off the intersection of Rushing and Fairbanks starting at Girl Scout Way.

It is still unknown if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
