El Paso, TX (KDBC) — A motorcyclist was killed after an accident in Far East El Paso.
According to police, Jose Andrade, 22, was ejected from his bike when his motorcycle and a BMW collided on Saul Kleinfeld and Zaragoza just before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. Andrade died at the scene.
The driver of the car, Alexander Marquez, 20, is unharmed.
The motorcycle slid almost a block away from where it happened.
Police said its not unusual because the motorcyclist was speeding.
Police had a message for anyone on the roads.
"I think the reality is when you're riding a motorcycle, you have to understand the motorcycle doesn't offer you a lot of protection. We ask that drivers remain vigilant and pay attention to motorcyclists and make sure they keep an eye out for them but the motorcyclists also have to take some responsibility in ensuring their safety," said Mike Baranyay with The El Paso Police Department.
The driver of the car stopped and answered questions from officers.
The investigation is still ongoing but at this time no charges have been filed.
