LAS CRUCES, NM — A Doña Ana County man is convicted of brutally beating up his girlfriend two years ago.
Sabino Jacques, 46, is convicted of aggravated battery against a household member with a deadly weapon and an additional count of misdemeanor domestic violence.
Jacques punched and kicked his girlfriend after an argument, while he was drunk in September 2010. He then beat her with a flashlight and continued to punch her while she was on the ground.
Because he has six previous felony convictions, he faces up to eight years in prison.
