Man charged with assaulting girlfriend, holding her against her will

El Paso Sheriff’s deputies arrested Javier Rivera, 45, for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

According to investigators, Rivera was arguing with the woman as they were riding in a car when Rivera pulled over and beat her.

Deputies said Rivera then drove the woman to his house and would not let her leave.

Eventually the woman found a way to call for help. She is expected to be okay.

Rivera is charged with unlawful restraint, assault causing bodily injury and interfering with an emergency telephone call.
