LAS CRUCES, NM — A Las Cruces man not only gets beaten with his own weapon but lands behind bars too.
Las Cruces police said 37-year-old Carlos Cooper planned to attack an old friend with a baseball bat on East Idaho Avenue early Saturday morning.
After striking the victim with the bat, police said the victim and his brother were able take the bat away and beat Cooper in self defense.
Cooper left with a few bruises and an aggravated battery charge.
Cooper also was found to be in violation of his probation and is now being held without bond at the Doña Ana County Detention Center.
