Man accused of threatening girlfriend's life with broomstick

A man suspected of punching his girlfriend and using a broom handle to threaten to kill the woman was arrested Saturday.

Frances “Frank” Stanley Solarczyk, 49, is charged with one count each of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery against a household member.

Las Cruces Police learned that Solarczyk was upset with his mother on Friday, May 9. At about 10 p.m. he began arguing with his 51-year-old girlfriend. The argument escalated and became physical, with Solarczyk punching his girlfriend several times.

As his girlfriend attempted to leave their residence, police said Solarczyk pinned the woman down and used a metal broom handle to threaten to kill her. The woman was finally able to leave the residence and the following morning reported the incident to police.

Solarczyk was arrested Saturday and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center  His bond was set at $10,000. He has since been released on bail.
