A man accused of beating an elderly Las Cruces couple with a hammer during a violent home invasion, pleaded not guilty Monday to a long list of felony charges.

Guy Jaime Young allegedly chose the couple at random on June 11th.

Police say he hit both the 82 year-old man and his 79 year-old wife in the head with a hammer before fleeing with their pick-up truck and cash from inside the home.

He was arrested two hours later at a truck stop. The 42 year-old is now facing nine felony charges, including two counts of attempted first degree murder and armed robbery.

He's being held on $1 million bond.
