LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Main Street reopened to traffic over the weekend after the completion of reconstruction on the south end of the street.
The street was closed after the city decided to block traffic in 1969.
In 2005, the city approved to allow two-way traffic in the area.
Construction plans stalled in 2009 due to funding, but got underway in 2011 with the re-opening of the north side of the street.
Construction on the south end was recently completed.
