Those on the road this holiday weekend are in for a surprise at the gas pump -- according to Gas Buddy, prices are falling, and in fact, they're the lowest since 2010.

Regular gas across the country will average $3.41 per gallon, that's 18 cents less than last year and 42 cents lower than the 2012 record high.

So why the drop?

Crude oil prices have fallen around the globe despite turmoil in the Middle East and Russia, and America is producing more oil on its own.

Gas prices started falling last month and are expected to keep sliding through November.
