The cold and rainy weather didn't stop people from lending a helping hand to those recovering from the devastation after Typhoon Haiyan.

The Heart of the World Fil-Am church was out at the Barnett Harley Davidson dealership in East El Paso Saturday collecting donations. They're accepting anything from food to cash, to send to those impacted by the deadly typhoon in the Philippines.

"We have a lot of members, family members that are affected. Now still going day by day, just living it day by day and it's not easy. It's going to be a difficult Christmas for everybody. That's why we are trying our best to be able to help," said Jasmine Lasala, with the Heart of the World Fil-Am Church.

Whataburger and Rudy's are donating sandwiches for the first two hundred donors each day at noon. The event will continue Sunday from 11a.m. to 5p.m.
