Lilly "Flip-Flopping" on Domestic Partnerships Issue?

EL PASO - El Paso District 1 Representative Ann Morgan Lilly appears to have changed her position on the domestic partnerships issue.

Lilly signed a letter for the endorsements of former competitors Manny Hinojosa and Abe Peinado, listing the issues that Lilly promised to fight for if re-elected in the run-off election June 11.

Here, she signs the letter in agreement for "no extension of benefits to domestic partners."

The problem is, she appears to be switching her vote.

Back in August 2009 when the vote on the controversial issue came to council, Lilly voted in favor of domestic partnerships.

We've called Representative Lilly at her home and her office for comment several times since last week.

She has yet to respond to any of our calls.

Lilly has a criminal history and a $140,000 judgment just last year!
At least Ness has been honest and open about it

I can see where this would bother some but check this out:

I was thinking about voting for Ness-Garcia until I learned she is not paying her taxes, not paying her bills (2 legal judgements against her, and has a Texas ethics violation on her record>

Don't connect the dots for me, this person in my opinion would not make a good elected official.

What matters is economics. Domestic partners receiving benefits cannot be shaped in a way to prevent abuse and fraud. Anyone can say they are a domestic partner. I guess it boils down to if you want benefits from an employee, ya gotta marry. Texas still doesn't allow gay marriage yet. The issue is not discrimination against gay lesbian couples. It simply means get married, get benefits regardless of orientation. It's about outgrowing this entitlement mentality. Earn it!
