Las Cruces Police have identified the two people involved in the apparent murder-suicide Monday afternoon in an apartment complex on Sexton St.

LCPD were called to the apartment located at 1850 Sexton St. around 12:20 p.m. Monday afternoon. When they arrived to the apartment, they found pregnant 30-year-old Bridgette Dominguez and 32-year-old Jesus Manuel Rojas inside the home.

Dominguez was transported to Mountain View Regional Medical Center where she and her unborn child were both pronounced dead. Rojas was pronounced dead at the scene from a single gunshot wound.

Investigators with LCPD believe that Rojas, who was Dominguez' estranged boyfriend, shot her with a 9mm handgun and then turned the gun on himself.

The couple had three children, ages 11, 7 and 20-months together. Up until about a month ago, Dominguez lived at the Sexton Apartments alone while Rojas lived at another home in Las Cruces.

Police believe that the couple became involved in a heated argument Sunday evening, which continued into Monday, prior to the shooting.

Reports from both Las Cruces Police and the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office show multiple incidents of domestic disturbances over the past few years between Rojas and Dominguez. Both Rojas and Dominguez had been arrested on battery charges against each other in the past.

The couple's 20-month-old son was also in the apartment at the time of the shooting, but was not injured.

Though investigators believe the shooting is a murder-suicide, a spokesman with LCPD says their investigation is ongoing.
